France and Israel the new Champions
The day in Cadiz started in the same way as the previous ones. The wind was reaching 45 knots and a white carpet was covering the sea. The top three athletes in men and women received their jerseys and stickers in the customary yellow jersey ceremony.
The Medal Races were scheduled for 12.00 the final races for the rest of the fleet at 11.00. Nevertheless the postponement flag was raised and the race committee was out in the water struggling to anchor the boat.
It was not long after that the crucial decision was made. At 12.30 all races were cancelled and the sailors started packing their equipment for their trip back home.
The Prize Giving Ceremony followed right after and the winners took their place on the podium. In men’s fleet, Julie Bontemps (FRA) is the 2012 World Champion followed by Nick Dempsey (GBR) in second and JP Tobin (NZL) in 3rd. Lee Korzits (ISR) continued her dominance and won her second consequent World Championship. In second place was Zofia Klepacka (POL) and the veteran Alessandra Sensini (ITA) completed the podium.
The top ten athletes in both the men and the women fleet received their monetary prizes totaling 45.000$ and offered by Neilpryde.
The next big stop for them is the London in August for the Olympic Games where each country will be represented by its best athlete in the ultimate race that everyone is preparing for.
