Wayfarer Southern Area Championships at Shoreham Sailing Club

Shoreham Sailing Club hosted the Wayfarer dinghy Southern Area Championships last weekend. The event attracted 16 boats, 6 Club boats and 10 visitors, and was won by local boat Big Dipper sailed by husband and wife team Bill and Lisa Whitney. This is the first time a Shoreham boat has won this competition.

The weekend comprised 5 races and provided challenging conditions: light South Westerly winds on Saturday and strong North Easterlies on Sunday. Gusts of up to 27 knots were recorded by Shoreham Beach weather station on the Sunday, testing the skills and strength of the sailors.

2nd Geoff Gibbon and Dave Moy (Parkstone Yacht Club)
3rd David Roberts and Mike Bryant (Bough Beech Sailing Club)
