Going for Gold Open Day at Henley Sailing Club

by Duncan Mackay 1 Jun 2012 07:04 BST 9 June 2012

In this great Olympic and Diamond Jubilee year Henley Sailing Club’s Commodore Tim Saunders welcomes everyone to attend the club’s annual open day on the beautiful river Thames at Wargrave on 9 June at 14.00 - 17.00. We have put out all the flags for this event

The Open Day is being coordinated as part of the Royal Yachting Association’s ‘Going for Gold’ celebration of our fantastic Olympic sailing team’s preparations for the dramatic sailing competition at Weymouth and Portland in the summer. ‘Going for Gold’ is also aimed at encouraging sailing everywhere in the UK especially for young people wishing to try it for the first time.

Everyone is welcome to have a go at sailing, even beginners, with our experienced helms showing you the art of sailing. For landlubbers and onlookers there is the chance to enjoy a cream tea on the superb riverside lawns or a drink at the bar. For everyone there is a chance to see the extensive facilities at the club and to tour the bridge and see how races are run with informative club members.

For further details see www.henleysailingclub.org.uk for instructions of how to get to the club at Willow Lane, Wargrave.
