A 16 strong fleet arrived to a great welcome not only from the Fleetwood club members but also the wind and sun Gods giving us a westerly wind, which was straight down the purposely built water, and the sun coming out to watch the racing.

With the whole fleet opting for the ‘D' sail and the course set, using the entire length of the 220 metre lake, (great Beat). During the first race prestart wind up there was a coming together of Dave Fowler and Adam Kissick, which resulted in the dismasting of Fowlers boat, and him missing the first race which was won by Kissick, miss fortune also became Tim Long, who did start the race late catching the fleet by the end of the final lap.

Race 2 got under way with a close battle between Fowler, Kissick and Long, but Fowler became a cropper, being attacked from the depths of the lake, not the dreaded weed that some lakes suffer from, but a moving stealthy object, the Fleetwood Jelly fish. Allowing Kissick to run off, to a win with Long a very close second.

So the scene was set for the morning a battle between these 3 with kissick finding the bullets in 5 of the races and Fowler 1, Long was always hot on their heels, and in one piped on the line after leading the whole race from Kissick.

After lunch the wind moderated and Fowler put the 'C' rig on, quickly followed by the rest of the fleet, Fowler won the start and took the lead with Kissick chasing, Long had some electronics problems which dropped out for 2 races, allowing Skip Reaser to break into the top 3, and this was the finishing order.

The wind in Fowler eyes had dropped enough to hit the ‘B' rig and took the next race, and with his mojo returning, he sailed to victory in next 5 races with Kissick 2nd. Junior champion Jorden Porter, also found his mojo, gaining two 3rd places during the afternoon.

With the end of racing called for the day, and the walking up and down the side of the lake (800m per race 12 races, that's nearly 6 miles) exercise over, the scores were calculated with the Fowler and Kissick trying to add the scores up in their heads, as it was going to be close, and it was by 1 point, demoting Kissick to 2nd overall with Skip in third.

It had been a great day of sailing with perfect conditions, and a brilliant race team.

With a race within a race for the Johnson family The wind was blowing from the clubhouse direction for the ten RC Laser entries. It looked to be a stock 'B' rig all-dayer, but with the light patch at the entry point, a bit of extra sail cloth helps you get through the lulls. Posted on 6 Oct 2024

With the wind forever increasing in strength a couple of 'D' rigs were brought out The showers had just about died out on arrival, to leave us with a nice Blowy Westerly. No need for the big sails today and it was a decider for the next 2 sail sizes, giving us a mix for the first couple of races. Posted on 18 Jun 2024

No question on rig size - the smallest D rigs were chosen For today's racing the wind was very much in the upper numbers. The forecast was for it to drop but with 20 - 25 knits and direction NW. No question on rig size - the smallest D rig. Posted on 27 Mar 2024

Course allows boats to be closer than normal and with more possible infringements The Race Team using the wind direction of SE and 8 knots speed set a narrow course with a wing mark to form the triangle for the triangle sausage format. This effectively gave two downwind legs, a reach along the leeward end of the course and two beats. Posted on 27 Feb 2024
