The Royal Lymington Yacht Club was very pleased to announce that Brewin Dolphin have come on board as proud sponsors of their Thursday Night Racing last week. With 3 out of 4 races having been cancelled due to too much wind, everyone was very optimistic for better weather this week and the day dawned full of sunshine and promise.
In t-shirts and shorts, IRC Class 1 and 2 set off on a beat across the Solent towards a black moveable mark laid just of Yarmouth, but the wind died, the flood started to build and none of them could make the mark despite some valiant efforts. There was some genoa dropping and clanking of anchors to be heard but nobody was really serious about it and Peter Schofield on Zarafa led the charge under engine back to Lymington. Most of the other classes did not even make it off the start line as the wind dropped further and all racing was later abandoned.
Brewin Dolphin kindly provided a champagne prize for the lucky winner of the prize draw, Nick Morgan, owner of Rooie Rakker, a Contessa 26 in LH Class 3.
