25-27 August 2012
Just 7 weekends to go until the revived Minisail National Championships, run within the Classic and Vintage Nationals at Bough Beech SC over the August Bank Holiday. Saturday will give rusty sailors a chance to put their Minisails through their paces, and mend anything that breaks, before racing on the Sunday and Monday.
With likely entries from Holland and Belgium, as well as from the 4 corners of the UK, we are looking at a relaxed, cosmopolitan atmosphere for the event, with friendly competition on the water. Bough Beech are planning a full social calendar, too.
If you are a current Minisail sailor, and interested in coming along, then visit www.minisail.org.uk and www.cvrda.org for more detail on the weekend as it becomes available. If you are interested in Minisails, but are not currently an owner, it is possible to pick up a secondhand example for anything between £50 and £300, so it really is the cheapest sailing out there. With a choice of putting a sliding seat on, or keeping it simple and just sitting out, there is enough variety to keep everyone happy, and enough fiddling to be done on the old boats for any habitual boat bimbler.
