Yacht Clubs of Weymouth Dinghy Regatta - Preview

by Nick Frampton 12 Jul 2012 12:42 BST 14-15 July 2012

With just days until the Yacht Clubs of Weymouth Dinghy Regatta 2012 kicks off there is a flurry of activity within the local sailing community to try and make sure the weekend goes off without too many hitches.

With a total of 147 entries(now shut), this year has been particularly challenging to organise because both Castle Cove Sailing Club and Weymouth Sailing Club have been hosting teams in training for the Olympics, space is expected to be tight. Castle Cove is hosting the majority of dinghies in a great effort of 'space finding', a skill found at many sailing clubs but very hard to perfect like they have.

In these times we live, we have tried to strip back what a sailing regatta should be about - great racing, fun and inclusive. We have decided not to have skipper’s packs and just have a set of Sailing Instructions. Worthy performers will have a memento of the regatta and perennial prizes awarded on Sunday afternoon.

We look forward to seeing all the entrants at the weekend for a fantastic sailing weekend.

Further details and results can be found on the website www.weymouthregatta.co.uk
