Noble Marine OK Dinghy Youth & Junior Championship Preview

by International OK Class Association 10 Oct 2012 16:15 BST 13-14 October 2012

This weekend the OK Class will come together for the last event of the year. Saturday will be dedicated to the annual Youth & Junior Championships sponsored again by Noble Marine who share the UK Class Association's desire to promote and develop youth sailing in the OK Dinghy. With the continued support of Noble Marine the class also look at other opportunities to enable youngsters to experience the fabulous international competition the OK Class has to offer.

Internationally the individual National OK Class Associations are encouraging juniors and youths to take up OK sailing at an earlier age and in Australia they have developed a smaller rig to enable even younger sailors to get to grips with sailing this thoroughbred racing dinghy.

A number of new faces will be competing at this year's Championship at South Staffs SC this weekend, replacing the guys who are now too old to qualify. So, it will be interesting to see how they get on!

The annual South Staffs OK Open Meeting will follow on Sunday, so the clubs social committee have been working hard to organise a great social for the Saturday evening. OK sailors and club members will be treated to a full hog roast, followed by an evening of entertainment including a comedian.

Many thanks must also go to P&B for helping out with the prizes.
