32 years after the event the University 1500 trophy was presented this weekend to Peter Noakes.
The original event held at the BCYC in 1973 was sailed in Larks and was a team race event between the various University leagues that were in existence then. Aston won the event on a very dodgy protest and Peter played a significant part in the victory.
The 1973 Aston squad gathered in Birmingham this weekend to re-live old memories and visited the Midland Sailing Club at Edgbaston Reservoir.
Thanks to all who participated and Gail Sampson for support and organisation. Peter has now moved on from Larks and is currently the Ballad National Champion.
