12-15 June 2013
For those of you sitting on the fence for, no doubt, noble reasons, entries for the ICRA, the National Cruiser Championships and WIORA, the West Coast Championships, and ICRA Corinthian Cup & WIORA White Sails can still be made online at www.traleesailingclub.com.
Entry closes completely on 4th June 2013.
You have two weeks to make your mind up and get your boat to Fenit, in the sunny SW of Ireland. We have feeder races and major races feeding into the event, which in turn feed onto other events, for example, Sovereigns Week in Kinsale on June 26th to 29th.
On Saturday, June 8th, the Gold Leaf Tea Trophy will be up for grabs, if you want to race from Foynes to Fenit on that date, with a nice early start to avail of the ebbing tide.
Prior to that, the GBSC regatta, this year, is sponsored by the Galway Sea Festival (supported by Discover Ireland and The Gathering). Full details can be found here.
The craic should be good with the event being based on the Galway city Docks Marina with the first race starting at:
- Friday 31st May: 1 Race 1800 Start
- Saturday 1st June: 3 Races 1100 Start
- Sunday 2nd June: 2 Races 1200 Start
Another feeder race - the O'Sullivans Marine 100 Mile Race - is planned to leave Galway Docks at 8pm on Friday, June 7th, for an overnight race into Fenit Marina the following day. Boats coming down from Sligo, Mayo, Clifden and Galway can join in on this one.
As well as this, becoming a well established race in its own right, is the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle race, also, starting on Friday, June 7th from Dun Laoghaire – see www.nyc.ie for details. With well over 20 boats entered, ranging on IRC points difference from 0.898 to 1.144 and maybe higher, there will be a well spread fleet of boats going down the east coast of Ireland on June 7th.
It would be great to see some UK boats joining in the fun. With regattas all over the east, south and west coasts of Ireland all season, it makes great sense for some UK boats to make the trip, especially in the year of The Gathering Cruise – see www.thegatheringcruise.com as well. All are most welcome!
One thing we can't do however, is change the closing date - June 4th - only two weeks away, so get organised and complete the paperwork. Remember, first in get the better berth allocations, so please complete the forms and help us to make this a great sailing regatta on the water with great 'craic' ashore...
