The second 18ft Skiff Grand Prix was in Jachthaven Bruinisse. For the second time in a row the Dutch Grand Prix was hosted at the Grevelingen in the south of The Netherlands. Besides the thirteen 18ft skiffs there were also seven 49ers and six Musto Skiffs ready for three days of racing.

On Friday we started at 13.00hrs with the first race for the 18's. The conditions: small rig sailing. During the second race the wind increased with gusts up to 29 knots. With the very steep waves only a few boats made it to the harbour.

The second race was postponed so we could drink some after sailing beers on shore.

On Saturday we had a great BBQ party with sponsored beers and our 18ft private DJ Henk. Henk is becoming a real celebrity in the 18ft Skiff class. Because of the wind, only the 49ers and Musto Skiffs sailed on Saturday.

On Sunday we got out early to sail four races. With 12 knots and sunny weather it was like last year - a great day of sailing. After 5 races the Vikings won the Dutch GP Cup.

When you was in Jachthaven Bruinisse, you had a great weekend of sailing and maybe a bit of fixing. When you wasn't you missed a great event (again!). The lake is perfect for beginning with Skiff sailing and the club is very willing to organize events for the Skiff class.
