Warm dry weather and steady wind combined to make a good Access TT meeting at Frampton on Severn Sailing club on Wednesday 3rd July. It was Frampton's inaugural Access TT event and we attracted thirteen boats from clubs as far south as Ringwood and as far north as Rutland.
Four Access classes were contested and with good periods of the sun and a force 3 breeze gusting 4 the racing was close and fast.
In the 303 one person class the mornings races were taken by Paul Philips from Frensham but the afternoon brought two close wins for Tessa Watkis from the same club and with two wins and two seconds each Tessa took the event win on a last race tiebreak.
The Access Liberty class was closely fought with Simon Harle of Rutland taking the first win and David Durston of Whitefriars SC Cotswold Water Park taking the second win. At the end both had two firsts each and the days winner was David on his better lower order placings.
The Access 2.3 class saw exceptional sailing by Lindsay Burns of Frensham take three firsts and Pat Crowley of Rutland edging his club John Coombs to take second.
All enjoyed a very good event. Lindsay Burns, on behalf of the visiting sailors and helpers said "From the moment we arrived it was obvious how much effort you had put in to make us welcome, and your friendly and helpful support team got the day off to the perfect start. Your jetty/shore and race team were most efficient throughout the day, and your catering superb!
The results were as follows:
Access 2.3 Winner: Lindsey Burns from Frensham Pond followed by Pat Crowley and John Coombs from Rutland.
Access 303 one person Winner: Tessa Watkiss from Frensham Pond, followed by Paul Phillips, Frensham Pond and Martin Hadley, New Forest and District Sailability.
