A small but competitive fleet of Splashes took part in their National Championships at Christchurch Sailing Club on August 24th & 25th.

Courses were set in Christchurch Bay, with a blustery north-westerly breeze providing flat water but some sharp gusts and big shifts that caught most of the sailors unawares at times.

Joe Croker, from North Herts & East Beds Sailing Club, took the 1st two races with some strong performances in the windy conditions. A capsize in race 3, however, allowed Stacey Herring from Christchurch to win the last race of the day.

Lighter winds on Sunday made the racing much closer, with Joanne Arnell from Christchurch winning two of the 3 races. Joe managed to stay in close contention, however, and his win in race 2 ensured overall victory.

Overall Results:

1st Joe Croker
2nd Joanne Arnell
3rd Stacey Herring
4th Ela Miller
