Peter Andreae Trophy at Royal Lymington Yacht Club

by Stuart Jardine, PRO 27 Dec 2013 15:07 GMT 27 December 2013

This year the promised gale or near-gale had arrived resulting in all the races being in the Club's rowing dinghies as it was certainly prudent to safeguard the Wednesday Junior Sailing Scows from possible damage.

Only six Junior Sailors turned up for this year's annual Peter Andreae Trophy at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, many preferring to stay in bed rather that attempt to weather the storm.

At first it seemed that the scorers would have difficulty separating the competitors but, after a couple of races each, three sailors started to show that they had some rowing skill.

A final was held between the three showing some promise, resulting in a very, very close finish between the Hargrave brothers of less than one second.

Simeon Hargrave, the elder brother, took the Peter Andreae Trophy, a silver model of a Lymington Pram.

Overall Results:

1st Simeon Hargrave
2nd Mathias Hargrave
3rd Sarah Jarman
4th James Eales
5th= Danielle Thomas
5th= Will Bedford

Once again many thanks to all those who helped make this another successful event, particularly Jane Pitt-Pitts, Jane Clegg, Ann Brunskill and Mary Ann Jardine in the Office and in the RIB's Bob Burney and Vince Sutherland mark laying and Chris Baldwick and Chris Knox on safety duty. Plus on the Club Pontoon John Evans, Robin Markes and Ado Jardine and not forgetting our boatmen Phil and Ian replacing broken rollocks!
