Entries for the 2014 Sail for Gold regatta are now open, with an 'early entry discount' available to those who get their entries in before Friday 2nd May 2014.

The Sail for Gold Regatta 2014 takes place between 2nd – 6th June at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, the venue used for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sailing regattas. Eight Olympic and three Paralympic classes will compete across five race courses in Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour, in what will be the third instalment of the 2014 EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup.

Now in its second year, the EUROSAF Series is based on five established regattas within Europe and provides the best possible competition for Olympic and Paralympic classes, complementing the ISAF World Cup series and Class Championships.

Sail for Gold event organisers are once again expecting a star studded line-up to greet the shores of Weymouth and Portland with a number of athletes expected to return to the sailing venue where their 2012 Olympic and Paralympic fates were decided.

The regatta will once again be teaming up with SailRacer and Danish company SportsXstream to provide live video from the racecourses and GPS tracking solutions across the Sail for Gold fleets in order to enhance the online experience for sailors, coaches and fans alike.

Sail for Gold Event Director Peter Allam commented: "The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in partnership with the Royal Yachting Association is delighted to welcome back the Olympic and Paralympic Classes for the 2014 Sail for Gold Regatta. Sail for Gold has traditionally been a flagship event for the Academy and has proved inspirational for those wishing to start sailing and the wider sailing community."

John Friend, EUROSAF Secretary General, added: "The EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup is the most significant development in Olympic Sailing for many years, bringing together five disparate regattas into one single competition. Sail for Gold is an intrinsic part of this innovative series and EUROSAF are delighted at being able to cooperate with the RYA and the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy as part of their Series.

"Olympic sailing took on a new dimension following the London Games, with new ideas and equipment being introduced. The EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup, including the Sail for Gold Regatta, is an import component in the build-up to Rio 2016 for sailors."

Entries received before Friday 2nd May 2014 will qualify for the early entry fee. All other online entries must be received no later than Friday 23rd May 2014.
