Highcliffe Sailing Club's racing calendar started with a great turnout on Sunday. Bright skies and an easy 8 – 10 knots, NE breeze, providing a gentle start for some of the sailors who had been hibernating over the winter break!

Sea Sea Spring Series Races 1 & 2

Eleven boats entered the sea race. Newcomer to the club, John Hammond brought along his Devoti D-one and proved to be a winner. A triangle course was set and quickly the D1 was way out in front. Alan Tarrant, Laser Radial and Josh McCormick also in his Laser Radial were competing position for 2nd and 3rdover the line.

In the second race youngster Josh McCormick was enjoying second place for the first 2 laps but headed too far up wind on the 3rd lap leaving the way open for Alan Tarrant to take second place at the downwind mark. Richard Waltham, Laser, surprised the group, coming from the usual back of the pack to finish 5th over the line , could there be some new faces at the front this season?

Sea Sea Spring Series Results after Day 1: (top three)

1st John Hammond, Devoti D-One
2nd Alan Tarrant, Laser Radial
3rd Steve Waite, Solo

Harbour Spring Series Races 1 & 2

Three boats enjoyed the warm harbour conditions. The first race was extremely close, Ian Pike was trying out his new Comet Duo with Sally Perry as crew. Clearly a good combination they finished first with Jonathan Parson, Solo, close behind.

It was all change for race 2 as Mark Sharman was first over the line with a significant lead over Ian Pike and Sally Perry.
