The qualifying series concluded today at the 29th edition of the Magic Marine Easter Regatta on Lake Braassemermeer in the Netherlands. Over 200 young sailors, representing 11 countries will be battling it out in the finals on Sunday and Monday. The first two days are characterised by shifty wind and a lot of enthusiastic sailors: general recalls and early starts all over the place. It's Stijn Paardekooper, last years winner who is again in first place after six races.

Clean sweep?

The circumstances on the Dutch lake aren't easy, and the results are reflecting that: shaking it up on the second day.

At last year's event it was an all orange podium, even though the British finished on top in the overall performance. Again, after day one it are the Dutch and British battling it out at the top of the leaderboard, with Olin Houtman (NED), Laila van der meer (NED) and Emilia Boyle (GBR) as the top three. Last year's number one, Stijn Paardekooper sits in fourth place.

Currently, after finalising six races in the qualifying round, it's close at the top. Only a few points separating the top five. Stijn Paardekooper takes over the lead, followed by William Hall (GBR), Olin Houtman (NED), Lennert Steelandt (BEL) and Alex King (GBR).

Gold, silver and bronze

Based on the current standings, the group is being divided into three groups. They will race to win their fleet in the last two days of the event.
