Racing cancelled, leader Mahoney tests new flying foils in evening breeze
Stormy weather and highly variable wind conditions prevented many racing on the second day of the 2014 SailNC A-Class Catamaran North American Championship, but that didn't keep regatta leader Bruce Mahoney (Houston, TX) from enjoying an early evening 'flight session' on a just-arrived set of daggerboard foils. "These foils use a new laminate layup to provide flexibility in specific areas, allowing the boat to more easily get up out of the water and fly", Mahoney explained.
Racing tomorrow begins at 1300 EDT, with the area's typically robust breeze forecast to return for the fleet's final two days of racing.
