Jolly Harbour Yacht Club signals a three-year sponsorship deal with Mount Gay Rum and Banks Beer
Members of the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club in Antigua have been greeted with the news that Mount Gay Rum and Banks Beer have consented to sponsor their Valentine's Regatta for the next three years.
Commodore Dr Alan Burge, known to the Club as "Budgie", said he was proud to make the announcement, adding "It is a measure of the increasing status and professionalism of the Jolly Harbour Valentines Regatta that such a prestigious and well-respected sponsor of yachting events world-wide as Mount Gay Rum, has come on board."
He went on to add "The Jolly Harbour Yacht Club are also delighted to welcome Banks Beer, already known throughout the Caribbean for their sponsorship of Cricket, to the world of Yachting as the Official Beer of the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club Valentine's Regatta."
Known not only for Grand Prix racing, but also for fun and friendly rallying for cruisers, the Jolly Harbour Valentine's Regatta is scheduled for February 13th, 14th and 15th, 2015. It is expected to be a major attraction for island-wide and overseas participants, with an open invitation extended to yachts from neighbouring islands.
Race organiser www.Regattaguru.com have also offered sponsorship as well as Budget Marine, who are lending their ever loyal and much valued support to the event. Professional Race Officer Paul Miller will be setting the pace outside Jolly Harbour waters within easy reach of the coastline. The event promises to delight shoreline spectators, with some fun action in the planning stages.
The Club, which shares an active Facebook page, also hopes to involve cadets in a push to support the Island Sailing Academy, as well as encouraging more boats on the water whether racing or rallying.
Ending his announcement, Commodore Burge added that everyone sailing in the Caribbean region is "extremely welcome" to enjoy a friendly and professionally run regatta for yachting's 2015 calendar.
