Riding on the colossal wave of positive feedback following the 2014 International Paints Poole Regatta, the organising committee is predicting that the already established regatta will be an even greater success in 2016 and is fast becoming an essential date on the sailing calendar to kick off the racing season.
Combining the idyllic conditions of Poole Bay and Harbour and the concept of the regatta itself, which offers something for every kind of keelboat sailor, the event's popularity has increased and entries continue to build year on year; there were a record breaking numbers of entries in 2014.
Poole Regatta competitor, Ian Braham, who is a veteran of over 20 Cowes Weeks and countless regattas along the South Coast over the last 25 years commented; "The race organisation at Poole Regatta is extremely professional, with excellent committee boat lines and a great mixture of courses. Poole Bay is an ideal venue, with little tidal influence, making it a more level playing field for visiting yachts.
I think the fact that the Regatta is run only every other year really makes the event special, with each of the organising clubs working really hard together to make the regatta the best on the South Coast. For IRC boats, it really should be one of the must-do events alongside the IRC Championships and RTIR etc, with the level of competition extremely high given the quality of the home fleet."
Having run four National Championships as part of this year's event, the Regatta is inviting enquiries for the next event in 2016, please visit the website www.pooleregatta.co.uk
