Poole Week is back! For 2015, Parkstone Yacht Club is hosting an action-packed six-day event with plenty of activity on and off the water!

Returning to the original week-long format, Poole Week is open to sailors of all dinghies and small keel boats, offering a great opportunity to experience some of the best harbour and sea sailing on the south coast.

The full racing programme will be available soon, offering superb Harbour and Bay sailing in a competitive and fun environment.

With over 25 different classes of dinghies and small keel boats regularly racing in Poole Harbour, we aim to offer closely-matched racing for everyone during the week. Each class with six entries will have a class race, plus there will be a popular handicap race, to ensure that no one is disappointed.

Local sailors and visitors alike, will be welcomed to Parkstone Yacht Club, where there will be a daily social programme, including post-sailing entertainment, food and drink. All Poole Week entrants will receive free temporary family membership of Parkstone Yacht Club for the week, meaning they will be able to take advantage of the excellent location and facilities that the club offers.

Entry fees are discounted by 25% until 10 April 2015, so get your entry in early.

They'll be plenty to keep non-sailing members of the family entertained too with organised trips and excursions to explore Poole and the surrounding area. To find out more about the social activities click here.

The first Poole Week regatta took place in 1948, you can read more about the history of the event click here. Over the last 67 years, the event may have changed its format, duration and even its name (from time-to-time), but one thing has remained – its position as the premier annual dinghy and small keel boat sailing event in Poole Harbour.

In 2015 Poole Week is going to be better than ever – and we look forward to seeing you on the water!

Studies in concentration A lot happened on the final day of Poole Week 2024. The wind was in one of its light and fickle moods, the tide was ebbing for the first starts, and the harbour was busy with traffic that had been mercifully light earlier in the week. Posted on 31 Aug 2024

Fickle winds and fluctuating fortunes Wednesday was to have been a day of round-the-harbour courses for most of the fleets racing in Poole Week. The Dolphins and Cornish Shrimpers tend to sail round-the-harbour courses anyway - none of this triangle/sausage business for them. Posted on 29 Aug 2024

Blow the wind Southerly (sometimes with a bit of East in it too) Poole Harbour was very much a harbour of two halves on the Tuesday of Poole Week. In the top triangle, sailing area for the Flying Fifteens and ILCAs (Lasers in old money), the wind started in the south and pretty well stayed there. Posted on 28 Aug 2024

A windy welcome to the week Has anyone noticed that 2024 has been rather breezy? Last year, some regattas and championships were struggling with lack of wind. That hasn't been a problem on the whole this year. Posted on 26 Aug 2024

It's not all about the sailing In the context of one of the south coast's biggest regattas, it might seem strange to say that it's not all about the sailing. But in the case of Poole Week, it never has been. Posted on 25 Aug 2023
