Today at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show, Les McKee from Swiss Cottage was chosen as winner of the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show / Suzuki Marine Safety Boat competition.

Picked from amongst a whopping 4500 entries, Les who is a member of the Greenwich Yacht Club commented: "I don't normally win anything, so this is fantastic. One of our current safety boats is pretty much on its last legs so the timing couldn't be better."

Greenwich Yacht Club, Commodore, Stephen Wilson added: "We will be putting the prize to good use at the club; supporting club activities, training, racing, laying marks etc. Being on the tidal Thames conditions can be challenging so having this sturdy and reliable boat package will come in very handy."

Les clinches a Rigiflex Newmatic 360 powered by a Suzuki DF9.9A engine, worth over £4,500 (RRP) for his club, as well as their special VIP invitation to the show to claim his prize, where he was joined by fellow club members to help celebrate his win.

"We are delighted with how popular the competition has been" commented George Cheeseman, Sales and Marketing Manager, Suzuki Marine and ATV.

"Coming on as title sponsors for the show last year we wanted to come in with a bang, so we came up with this great safety boat package competition, which really has got people's attention and thousands of entries.

"It's great that the prize has gone to a club who at this time really need it, and that now they will be powered by a Suzuki engine at their club", George added.

The Rigiflex Newmatic 360 is one of the most popular club safety boats on the market and when combined with the Suzuki DF9.9A is a very robust and durable package and makes up one of the three safety boat packages from Suzuki Marine developed by Suzuki in partnership with Ribcraft and Rigiflex, and in conjunction with the RYA, offering clubs standard packages that will cater for the needs of most clubs and training centres.

Alongside the inland/inshore Rigiflex, there is also a 4.8m inshore RIB and a 5.85m coastal RIB so that there is a safety boat package to suit most club locations.

2015/16 Competition now open

"The competition, which ran from July 2014 to January 2015, proved extremely popular so it seemed only fitting to do it again. So I am delighted to announce that the 2015/16 competition is now open. Make sure you get your entry in and you could be the lucky winner of a Rigiflex Newmatic 360 powered by a Suzuki DF9.9A engine, worth over £4,500 (RRP) for your club", commented Charlotte Pearson, RYA Shows Co-ordinator.
