9 March 2015
It is with deep shock and regret that Allen Brothers must announce the passing of Kim Allen their Managing Director suddenly in the early hours of Monday 9th March at the early age of 59.
Allen Brothers was founded by Tony and Glenn Allen in the late 1950's to produce dinghy fittings to be marketed by Jack Holt Ltd. In 2002 Tony Allen retired and Kim became Managing Director, with his cousin Liz as Co-Director.
In 2008 Kim and Liz decided that in order to save the business they would need to split from Holt and market the fittings themselves with a rebrand and restructure. The Allen brand is now seen around the world as an innovative market leader – a legacy which Kim was extremely proud of. The business will continue with the existing management, a strong and supportive team, committed to the continued success of the brand and Kim's philosophy of endeavouring to give the best customer service possible.
Kim has dedicated his life to the sport of dinghy sailing, being a life-long champion of the Endeavour Trophy of which he has been the PRO for many, many years, along with being a lifelong member of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, member of various committees, PRO and Burnham Week event organiser.
Our thoughts are with his wife Lindsay and sons Edward and Richard.
News of the funeral will be announced in due course.
