THE PARAGON ADVANTAGE!

P&B have been supplying Paragon spars for over a year now and it is an undoubted success story.

How do we know?

Customer reports for one, but when I sail my Merlin and I get to line up against boats with a Paragon masts I become aware that they seem to have an edge. Sailors who I have previously had speed over now seem to hold a lane and despite my crew and I hiking to the max they are always able to go bow out. So the answer for me is to get one!

Why is there an advantage?

The Paragon masts are a high modulus narrow tube. The narrow tube means that there is less disturbance to the flow over the mainsail at the luff making your rig more efficient. This is a no brainer, it has to be an advantage! The second is the bend characteristics or perhaps we should say the flex characteristics. In my experience the high modulus seems to recover faster than standard Carbon spars and much faster than an aluminium rig. I have noticed as I sail through the gusts those with the Paragon masts are accelerating while I am still dumping the main and thinking about adding rake and or Cunningham.

Today we have delivered the latest Paragon mast to be fitted on a New Phantom at P&B Northampton. We have finished this with black durepox paint giving it the stealth look and 100%UV protection. The spreader bracket, developed in house, is fully adjustable but internally for reduced weight and windage and the gooseneck is moulded out of carbon.
We will shortly be putting a Paragon mast on a National 12 and they are available for Merlins, Contenders, International 14s and Phantoms too.
