Melges 24 World Championship at Middelfart, Denmark - Day 4
by International Melges 24 Class Association 3 Jul 2015 20:13 BST
30 June - 5 July 2015
No wind, no racing
Sometimes it happens also in Middelfart that, after a breezy day, you have to lie in the marina waiting for some puff of wind. A lie that today ended with the AP flag over Alfa, so it means that the Melges 24 World Championship 2015 will resume tomorrow morning, with the start of race 10 set for 11 am.
After nine races, the leader of the ninety five boats Melges 24 fleet is EFG SUI684 steered by Chris Rast. The Swiss entry is now twenty points ahead second day leader Altea ITA735 by Andrea Racchelli and twenty three Gulari-McKee's Air Force One USA820.
In Corinthian Division Kicker Schäfer's Musto Racing GER803 is holding a two-points-margin on three time Corinthian trophy winner Storm Capital Sail Racing NOR751 by Øyvind Jahre and fourteen points on Estonian entry Lenny EST790, with a two-times Olympics medallist Tõnu Tõniste on the helm.
For tomorrow weather forecast predicts some light wind. Principal Race Officer Hank Stuart plans to have the start of race 10 at 11 am.
We remind you that the series will count on fourteen races and that after the end of race 13 the standings will include two discards.
Melges 24 World Championship is organized by Match Racing Denmark in collaboration with International Melges 24 Class Association and Middelfart Sailing Club.
