Topper Open at Newbiggin by the Sea Sailing Club

On the 3rd September 2005 Newbiggin by the Sea Sailing Club held their Topper Open Event. First race commenced at 11am with the second race back to back. The event began with glorious sunshine and force 3 to 4 SE winds. The final race after lunch saw a change in conditions where the wind increased to a force 4 to 5 SE with a 6ft to 8ft swell in the bay.

Seventeen toppers competed in all three races from as far afeild as Otley and Ripon. Honor Fell from Beadnell Sailing Club got off to a flying start winning the first two races, with Thomas Steavenson from Tynemouth Sailing Club finishing second.

The changing conditions brought Jackie Gebhard from Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club into first place for race three, pushing Honor Fell into second and Thomas Tindall from Ripon Sailing Club took third place.

Southern Rooster Topper Travellers at Spinnaker
Soggy weather conditions and a tricky westerly wind for the final event of the series Soggy weather conditions and a tricky westerly wind direction greeted 29 Topper sailors to Spinnaker Sailing Club on 19th October. NEYYSA event at Yeadon
