Goransson's 'Inga' crowned Queen of Talamone

Third act of 2016 Sailing Series® Melges 32 bring Richard Goransson his second major event win this year

A full round of congratulations are in order for Richard Goransson's Inga From Sweden along with tactician Vasco Vascotto and crew Giovanni Cassinari, Federico Michetti, Cesare Bozzetti, Marco Carpinello, Gosse de Boer and Alex Sinclair as they are the 2016 Sailing Series® Melges 32 Talamone Champions!

Relatively new to the fleet and obviously settling into Melges 32 competitive Class culture well, is second place overall Matteo Balestrero aboard Giogi with tactician Andrea Casale, and in third is Norway's Lasse Petterson sailing Pippa with Matteo Ivaldi calling tactics.

Two additional races were held on the final day of competition with the daily race wins going to Goransson, and Vincenzo Onorato's Mascalzone Latino.

With a moderate 10-12 knots for the start of Race Six, Goransson had the race wrapped up with a virtual wire-to-wire win. Fritz Homann's Wilma held off Petterson to grab second.

The same dominating performance went for Onorato in Race Eight, with a great Russian chase between Pavel Kutznetsov on Tavatuy and Valentin Zavadnikov's Team SynergyGT for the runner up position. Although Kutznetsov was strong, his effort wasn't enough to hold off Zavadnikov's seasoned team which included Ed Baird on tactics. Zavadnikov eventually got the upper hand to win second over Kutznetsov finishing in third.

A very special thanks

A big thank you goes to Circolo Nautico Talamone, BPSE and all the Melges 32 teams for making this event a great success.
