Hornbaek's Dragon Gold Cup hits 75 entries from 15 countries

The 2016 Dragon Gold Cup promises to be a fantastic event this year, with the fleet growing every day – so far 75 have registered from 15 countries around the globe, with all the top class sailors in the field taking part in this special international event. Registration is, of course, still open for those who have not yet made it to the website, and we look forward to hearing from any and all Dragons wishing to participate.

At Hornbæk Harbour, preparations are in full swing, with the new Dragon Lagoon now ready to accommodate this year's Dragons in one place, and with a couple of great viewing and BBQ platforms looking north up the southern Kattegat and over to Sweden.

In the next few days, the www.dgc2016.com website will be giving you details of how to arrive in Hornbæk with your trailers and what will be happening when you get here to have your boats launched.

We have tried to make it as clean and simple as possible, with rigging to take place in a grassy area, a short drive, measuring reception with Gunter Ahlers in a concreted area, and sail measuring in a large, rubber-floored tent close by – so no worries about damaged sails. Trailer parking will be close by in the harbour's large car park.

Each participating boat will receive 3 number stickers. One issue that has previously irritated Dragons has been the issue of bow stickers. We have decided instead to keep the bows clean, and to provide a mast sticker, a trailer sticker and a vehicle sticker. A 4th sticker will be at that boat's mooring in the Dragon Lagoon. The stickers have special glue that loses its stickiness after 8 days and are easy to remove – also from wooden boats – without leaving glue residue.

Sailing instructions will be posted within the next few days.

So if you haven't already registered – Hornbæk is looking forward to hosting you for 'probably the best...' – which reminds me, once you come in from the day's sailing, our resident sailor chef will have some great food for you, and the beer is on the house. But do remember – if you're driving, Denmark has pretty much zero tolerance.

And speaking of driving – if you would prefer to rent-a-bike, we have arranged a great deal with a cycle provider – so just ask at the secretariat.

The three organising clubs – Hornbæk Boat Club, Royal Danish yacht Club and Hellerup Sailing Club are looking forward to seeing you all in Hornbæk.
