Redwing National Championship at the Isles of Scilly - Day 2

by Brian Carvey 22 Aug 2016 23:01 BST 21-26 August 2016

Despite the loss of Sunday's racing due to the Scillonian Ferry being cancelled on Saturday due to high winds, racing finally got underway with two races on Monday.

With an excellent entry of 30 boats it made a spectacular sight between St Mary's and Tresco.

First blood went to Arthur and Tamsin Kinver who chose the right position on the start line to take an early lead which they maintained for the whole race.

Race two saw three different leaders with Colin Crabb and Peter Kinver, both from Looe, taking a spell at the front, only for local helm Keith Buchanan to find a way through on the final windward beat to take the honours for Scilly.
