by Platu 25 Class 28 Aug 2016 09:13 BST 20-27 August 2016

Falkone wins the 2016 Platu 25 World Championship, that took place in Switzerland, in Brunnen. The Swiss skipper, Eric Monnin, gets 13 points, 18 less than Superbusi, second with 31 points. Mathias Bermejo gets the fight for the podium, overtaking the vice-champion of the last World Championship, Five for Fighting 3, and overcoming Euz II Villa Schinosa, who won the competition two years ago, in Antibes.

La Burra stood in fifth position (it was the minimum goal for the owner Thomas Laherstorfer), with a wide gap over Gamberro, Jerry Speedand Australian team, Easy Tiger. In ninth position we can find another Swiss team, Ursa Minor, above two Italian boats: Pirillina and Bambolina. Twelfth and thirteenth position for Randale 3 and Black Flag; Conquest B52, El Miracle and Connection are all together in 3 points. In the latest places there are Axolotl, Spirit of 25, Damaris, Phoenix and To Be Advised.

Falkone's team were happy. The skipper, Eric Monnin said, "I've never won the World Championship. Honestly, I didn't expect to win here, I want to thank all my team. We do match race but we had never raced all together until now, so I knew that we were good but, really, I didn't think we could win the title. It was a great surprise, I'm really happy".

Monnin is very excited: "We won with a wide gap and this is even more incredible. We were also lucky and we knew the lake very well, so we could take the right decisions every time. We took advantage of wind shifts too. Everything was perfect. The organization was precise and we were lucky with the weather. It was a pleasure to race".
