The RYA Sail for Gold Roadshow is back to celebrate the Paralympic Games and will be heading to Alton Watersports Centre in Ipswich on Saturday 17 September.
The Paralympic sailing event starts on Monday (12 September), and the whole country will be getting behind our sailors as they battle it out on the Rio waters in a bid for Paralympic Gold. To coincide with the last day of racing (medal day), the Roadshow will be offering FREE sailing taster sessions for people of all abilities.
"After being crowned the 'top sailing nation' at the Olympics there's never been a better time to get out on the water and have a go" said RYA Sailability Manager Debbie Blachford.
"The beauty of sailing is that it really is a sport for all and one of the few sports where people can compete on a level playing field (or water!)."
The event will be fully accessible for people with disabilities and the Woolverstone Project, a local Sailability group will be running 'have a go' sessions in specially adapted boats so everyone is welcome.
"We hope the fact that our Paralympic sailors will be battling for medals that day will add to the excitement and really inspire people to come along and have a go", Debbie concluded.
Taster sessions will run from 10:00-16:00 with qualified RYA instructors and RYA experts will be on hand with all the advice you need to get started in the sport.
The RYA Sail for Gold Roadshow previously toured the UK during medal race week with more than 1,100 people getting out on the water.
