Phaedo3 set off on Monaco to Porto Cervo record attempt

This morning as the sun broke Lloyd Thornburg's Phaedo3 slipped off the dock Yacht Club De Monaco to attempt a World Speed Sailing Record to Porto Cervo. They are setting off on the front of a weather system with calm seas.

The majority of the wind will be in the first couple of hours up to about 28 knots, settling to 17 knots nearer Sardinia. they hope to average a speed of 24 knots on the run into Porto Cervo and arrive in the late afternoon. The previous record was set by Esimit Europa with a time 10h 13m 42s.
