Geronimo heads back to Los Angeles for a restart in the Los Angeles Honolulu Challenge record attempt
Due to unfavourable weather conditions the team on the 110ft trimaran Geronimo have decided to return to Los Angeles and restart the Los Angeles Honolulu Challenge record attempt. They will cross the start line again on Sunday November 13 at approximately 08:00am (local Pacific time) 16:00 UTC.
The forecasted weather pattern the Capgemini and Schneider Electric trimaran had hoped for hasn’t eventuated and the return will allow the crew of maxi multihull to capitalise on the improving weather that has been predicted.
The team from the Los Angeles Yacht Club with David Cort officiating, will again set a start line for the Los Angeles Honolulu Challenge record attempt, with Mike Wathen again officiating the start time for the WSSRC.
To watch this ocean warrior start, the official start line of the 2225 mile Los Angeles Honolulu Challenge record attempt is located the start line off Point Fermin California in proximity of the north entrance of San Pedro harbour of Los Angeles California.
Start line coordinates of the Los Angeles Honolulu Challenge are 33°42.8'N 118°20.3'W. Coordinates for the finish line are Lat 21°14.80’N; 157°48.90’
