What a stunning opening day for Sail Port Stephens in 2018 with 87 yachts taking to the water for the cruising divisions racing the Commodore's Cup through until Wednesday, before the Performance, Cruising and IRC Racing joins in on Friday.

An 8-10 knot westerly, racing the "Pub to Pub" course was a beautiful spectacle on Nelson Bay, and even though the breeze faded, not one unhappy face was amongst the competitors as the apres-sailing kicked on well into the evening.

Racers are warming up now to race offshore in a moderate sou'easter, with 12-15 knots of nor'easter forecast to wrap up the first part of this event tomorrow, on Wednesday.
