Helly Hansen is proud to announce its Lifaloft Hybrid Insulator Jacket has won the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2018
This year's competition was fierce with more than 6,300 submissions from 59 countries. All the products entered were individually assessed and evaluated by an independent and international jury of experts, with the Lifaloft Hybrid Insulator Jacket coming out on top and being awarded as one of the best in the industry.
Philip Tavell, Category Managing Director for Ski, Mountain, Baselayer and Midlayer, comments, "Winning this award is the result of true teamwork, and it reflects the amazing interaction we have between our departments, from idea to product. It's great to be able to create a solution for something that professional skiers needed while pursuing their dreams of becoming the best in the world. We have combined the best technologies available, and created the most versatile and functional jacket to cater to their needs, may it be at the top of the hill or while travelling. Winning a Red Dot award is a global recognition that we are developing in the right direction to create authentic and innovative products that satisfy professional skiers' needs."
The Lifaloft Hybrid Insulator Jacket for men and women was designed with insights of Olympic ski professionals. The Swedish Ski Team requested a new garment that was compatible with their hectic travel and training schedule; something that was light, warm, and stylish, with less bulk to accompany them on their ski trips around the world. This feedback was taken onboard by Helly Hansen and began the start of a four-year journey of research and development, using most advanced technology to create an insulation that is 20% lighter and still warmer than standard insulation.
The ground-breaking insulation is based on Lifa® fibre technology fused together with PrimaLoft® fibres and engineered into a lightweight structure that traps more air than standard polyester, providing extra warmth due to the inherent properties of Lifa®. Additional consumer benefits are that Lifa fibres don't absorb water, making the insulation technology ideal for intense activities in variable winter or summer conditions. Lifa® also has a lower water and carbon foot print vs regular polyester, making it a more sustainable option.
Leading up to the 2019 World Championships in Sweden, the Swedish Ski Team will be wearing the LifaLoft™ jacket.
The Lifaloft Hybrid Insulator Jacket will be available for purchase online and instore from Winter 2018. For more information about Helly Hansen and to see the full collection, please visit: www.hellyhansen.com.
