As the RS Games enters into the second week it is time for the PA Consulting RS Feva European championships. The RS Tera and RS Aero have departed to make space for the 120 boats for 10 nations making this European the largest to date for the class.

In over cast condition the fleet we released on time for the 3 scheduled race on the 1st day of qualifying. The sailors launched in about 10 knots of shifty breeze as the fleet headed out to the other side of Portland Harbour. After a few changes to the course the AP came down as Peter Saxton (PRO) wasted no time in banging out the 3 races.

Yellow flight (the fleet is divided into 2 flights for qualifying) was first way as the current national champions, Pank/Gotto lead the fight around the course. In the blue flight it was the turn of the current world champions Hutton-Penman/Jayasekara to lead their flight around the course.

As the breeze and the rain increase as the day when on, it was clear that there were several boats in the mix. A standout performance from Sophie Johnson/Dylan Colingbourne with a 2,3,1 see them leading the qualifying overnight. Tied on point and second on count back, NED6793, Robbert Huisman/Gijs Zuidema had an epic day.

At the end of day 1, only 4 points separate the top 6 boats as it looks like this championships is wide open. Day 2 is looking windy so the 1st start has been delayed as the weather system passes through.
