The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club announces that Craig Evans has been appointed to the role of General Manager.
Craig has been CEO of the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA) for 13 years and prior was an elected Board Member of that Club for three years. Craig has a focus on building and improving member facilities and services and during his tenure at the CYCSA his many achievements included assisting in the design and project management of an entirely new marina facility, a significant clubhouse upgrade and increased member satisfaction and growth. Craig's understanding and commitment to the Marina Industry was recognised when he was awarded the inaugural Global Marina Institute's International Scholarship to study Advanced Marina Management in the UK.
Commodore Michael Lockley commented on the appointment, "With a recruitment campaign that attracted nearly 70 high quality applicants to this highly coveted role we can be sure that we've got the right person for the job and we are excited about the experience that Craig brings to the Club which will enable him to continue to move the RPAYC forward".
Not only is Craig a great Manager, he is an active, experienced and passionate sailor who has been racing for much of his life. Starting in off-the-beach classes from the age of seven, Craig was a member of the Largs Bay Sailing Club and then moved on to 32 years racing keelboats at the CYCSA. Craig has competed in many national and international events and as a navigator he has completed numerous offshore races. He has competed in nine Sydney Hobart Races with three podium finishes including winning the 2000 Sydney Hobart aboard SAP Ausmaid. When asked about what he hopes to achieve in his new role, Craig responded saying, "It is a wonderful Club with a great sailing history and I look forward to continuing and contributing to this history by growing member participation at RPAYC in our sport. Pittwater is a magnificent waterway and I can't wait to interact with it on a regular basis".
Craig is taking over from Suzanne Davies who leaves the RPAYC after 12 years at the end of the week. Craig's start date is yet to be confirmed, however its members will have the opportunity to welcome Craig ahead of him taking up the role as he and his wife Julie will join club members for its Opening Day celebrations Saturday 1 September, 2018.
