Portsmouth Sailing Club to host Squib Southern Championship

by David Price 6 Sep 2018 11:34 BST 15-16 September 2018

Portsmouth Sailing Club, located in a historic building in the heart of Old Portsmouth, and adjacent to Ben Ainslie's America's Cup HQ, is excited to be hosting the Squib Southern Championships over the weekend 15/16 Sept.

The club is the home of the successful Parhelion yacht racing series held every spring and autumn and has an enthusiastic cruising membership but, following the installation of a crane this summer, it is now seeing a resurgence in day boat racing and a rapidly growing Squib fleet.

It is hoped that the Squib Southern Championships will benefit from the huge success of the 100-strong Squib Nationals held last month during Cowes Week and attract competitors from across the country. Racing will take place just outside the harbour entrance and is likely to comprise of a variety of windward/leeward and triangle courses.
