The NSW A Class catamaran Association will be holding the HARKEN NSW A Class State Titles at Vincentia Sailing Club on Jervis Bay over the 27th – 28th October 2018.

This event will be the last major event on the race calendar before all the boats head to beautiful Hervey Bay, Queensland for the start of the Australian and World Championships taking place in mid-November where we are looking at seeing 90-100 World class sailors taking to the water.

Americas Cup winning sailors Peter Burling, Blair Tuke & Glenn Ashby will be leading the charge aiming to take the glory, but stiff competition will be set by local sailor and current World champion Steve Brewin doing his upmost to cut them off at the post. Also racing will be Volvo Ocean Race sailors Tom Johnson & Kyle Langford adding to the mix.

Everyone is looking forward to seeing how they all match up against the rest of the fleets before heading into the World Championships. Harken's Grant Pellew and avid A Class sailor says 'I'm really excited about heading to Vincentia as I missed last year's event there, it's a great club with members that understand our racing and are very open and friendly'

The question that remains is what the top speeds will be by the end of these events. Boats are already hitting the low 30's downwind and well into the 20's upwind which makes the A Class the highest performance single handed catamaran in the World.

One note from the state measurer is if you are planning on sailing at the Worlds please book in early (read as now!) anything you would like measured for the Worlds as no new measurements will take place at the Worlds.
