20 yachts have already entered the first edition of RIOW Solo
This new single-handed race around the Isle of Wight will start at from Egypt Point, Cowes on Saturday 6th May 2006. The race has attracted mono-hull and multi-hull yachts from 25 feet to 40 feet overall and there is also a special class for Minis.
This race is the latest of the innovative series of single-handed races organised by Petit Bateau over the last three years. One objective of this event is to encourage sailors new to this exciting discipline to gain experience in the familiar and convenient location of the Solent.
Race Director Paul Peggs is pleased with the quality of the entry which includes several skippers new to solo racing and strong support from the established short handers, Paul anticipates 30 boats will start the first edition of this challenging new event.

All Petit Bateau events are OPEN races to encourage development in shorthanded design and techniques. IRC / MOCRA certificates are not required but corrected times will be calculated for those with valid certificates.
25 yachts have already entered the Petit Bateau Solo Race week that starts from Weymouth on 19th August, and visits Alderney, Guernsey, Treguier, Fowey and finishes in Mylor.
