The first race of The Round Martinique Regatta will start from Fort de France in just a month's time, eagerly awaited by both the competitors and the event's organisers.
However, before trimming the sails and sharpening tactics, the most important step is first to register for this 2019 edition. To participate in this regatta and enjoy the reduced rate, be sure not to miss the deadline of 19th January.
On 8th February, the bay of Fort de France will take centre stage as the backdrop to the first round of the 2019 Round Martinique Regatta. With more than 20 monohulls already registered in the different classes, The Round Martinique Regatta promises a great show around the island.
However, like at every competition, social events are just as important as the racing itself. The opening night (Friday) will be open to all sailors, volunteers, organisers, sponsors and partners. The evening will kick off at 6pm at the Yacht Club de Martinique.
On the second day of the event, Saturday, the boats will head to the Marin by a westerly or easterly route depending on the category they will be participating in. The post regatta gathering will be in the Marin or Saint-Anne for a surprise evening, also at 6pm. Two events will be held on Sunday, the last day of the regatta: first, lunch on the beach of Grand Anse d'Arlet, then at the end of the day and after sailing to Fort de France, the awards evening will take place on the Malecon in Fort de France. The Malecon will be the centre of The Round Martinique Regatta during the event, with numerous stands and means for spectators and families of crews to follow the racing, plus lots of entertainment.
These moments of sharing and celebration are just as important as the race itself and are integral to the success of The Round Martinique Regatta.
"We have rounded the 2018 buoy and are making headway into 2019. The Round Martinique Regatta Organising Committee wishes you all a happy new year 2019: a good course, good wind, a calm sea and a triumphant finish at the next mark.
In the meantime, we have an obliged passage on the 8th, 9th and 10th of February, The Round Martinique Regatta. Three days of intense sailing with an offshore racing spirit including the participation of three class40's from the Route du Rhum and three days of celebrations", said Paul G Constantin, Director of the organisation of The Round Martinique Regatta and President of the Martinique Yacht Club (YCM).
