VI Mid-Island Club Night - Why leave home? Pacific Adventures!

by Bluewater Cruising Association 12 Mar 2019 19:52 GMT 21 March 2019
Route so far © Bluewater Cruising Association

Please join Dina Aloi who will share stories, pictures and videos of her decision to purchase a cruising boat, her husband's acceptance of the idea, and their adventures on Good As Gold as they sailed from Vancouver to Mexico, across the South Pacific to Australia.

Dina was the skipper who kept going, both with and without husband first-mate Malcolm aboard. In 2013, with BCA Dreamers as crew, she departed for San Francisco. Malcolm arrived for the sail to Mexico and across the Pacific to Noumea, New Caledonia. With a friend from another cruising boat, Dina took Good as Gold from Noumea to Bundaberg, Australia, where the boat is currently located.

Hear about why they chose their routes and the conditions they encountered. Get information on hauling and storing a boat in both Tonga and Vanuatu, both excellent options to consider, along with the experience of clearing Customs in Australia and other adventures!

Doors open at 7:00 pm and presentation will begin at 7:30 pm. Bar will be open come early to enjoy conversation and comraderie.
