With over 60 yachts and 600 sailors out on the water, this year is expected to be the biggest year to date for Southampton's Sailing Week Regatta.

Due to popular demand, 2019 sees the launch of three new cups, the Legal Cup, the Financial Cup and the Technology Cup, giving businesses further opportunities for exposure as they race and network with other companies.

Following the success of the 2018 event, organisers Rees Leisure are keen to encourage even more competitors onto the water, whether they are first timers or seasoned sailors.

Partners including, Rees Leisure, Sunsail and RSYC racing are excited to welcome new sailors, of any ability, on to the sea, to have fun and challenge themselves.

Ed Gould, Creative Director of Carswell Gould, said about last year "Our team had an incredible day at this event in 2018 and really enjoyed networking with others in our industry."

The Regatta will see three days of racing from Monday 16th September to Wednesday 18th September, with the chance to win in six cups from different industries. Whilst the return of the previous cups includes, the City Cup, the Women's Cup and the Property Cup, along with the three new ones, there is space for new businesses.

Participants can enter as a corporate team of 7-10 or individually, and the three days provide the perfect chance for companies to connect with their team and enhance their brand exposure. Each day starts with breakfast and finishes with drinks at the 5-star Harbour Hotel in Ocean Village, providing the perfect setting for networking and an award ceremony to celebrate the day's races.

With donations to both Geoff Holt's Wetwheels charity and Southampton City Council, 2017 saw 200 children out on the water and 2018 saw a class of over 30 children receiving a VIP day experience of sailing, getting them involved and sparking interest into a new sport.

Nikki Rees, Managing Director of Rees Leisure, says "We are so excited to be putting this event on for the third year. We are looking forward to it being the biggest and best year yet with the aim to get as many beginners onto the sea as possible.

Whether you're an avid sailor or you've never stepped foot on a boat before, these three days are a perfect opportunity to connect with new people, strengthen your team and most importantly have fun!

We look forward to seeing you there!"

Entries are now open! Visit www.southamptonsailingweek.co.uk for more details.

All-female teams competing this year

Organisers ReesLeisure are happy to announce the return of the Women's Cup which will take place on the Tuesday 17th September along with the Technology Cup.

Associated British Ports, the ABP Southampton Marathon title sponsor, will have a team participating again after its debut at the Women's Cup last year.

ABP Southampton Director Alastair Welch said: "Our team last year included a mix of complete novices and some experienced sailors and they worked really well together battling the windy weather conditions. The team will be back to face the challenge again this year."

Nikki Rees, Managing Director for ReesLeisure, said "We are pleased to welcome back the ABP women's team as we announce the return of the Women's Cup to the Southampton Sailing Week 2019.

Leading the ReesLeisure yacht in the Women's Cup last year was an amazing experience and we can't wait to share that again with ABP and many more all-female teams. Whilst there are 6 different cups to choose from, spaces are limited in each of them so I would recommend getting in touch now before they fill up!"
