The British Sailing Team's Emma Wilson picked up a trio of medals at the RS:X European Championships today, finishing third overall, second-highest European athlete and top sailor aged under 21.

The 20-year-old finished the week-long regatta in Palma, Mallorca, seven points behind Dutch winner Lilian De Geus and four adrift of China's Yunxiu Lu to secure the bronze overall.

Wilson successfully defended the bronze she won in 2018, and also retained her under-21 crown, while adding the European silver to her haul.

Wilson, from Christchurch in Dorset, secured the impressive results with a third in the double-points medal race finale.

"I'm super happy to get second European and third overall," she said. "It was a tough week with some super shifty conditions, today we had a nice medal race in 12 to 14 knots sea breeze conditions.

"I had a good race and finally finished third, which was just enough to secure second European. It's amazing to compete against such high level girls and I'm super happy."

Bryony Shaw, who won bronze for Britain in the RS:X at Beijing 2008, finished 16th overall, with Saskia Sills in 23rd.

In the men's fleet, Tom Squires was the highest ranked Brit in 12th, with Andy Brown in 21st and Kieran Holmes-Martin in 24th.

Youth Olympics bronze medallist Finn Hawkins rounded off the week in tenth in the youth men category, while Mollie Densley Robins was the highest British finisher in the youth women's fleet in 18th.
