Hansa Open at Frampton on Severn Sailing Club

by Ron Sawford 30 Apr 2019 15:53 BST 17 April 2019

The first Hansa Open of the year took place at Frampton on Severn Sailing Club on Wednesday 17th April.

Turning up at the club early in the morning it was misty and windless, however within an hour the mist had gone and the wind risen to a heady 6 mph North Easterly. Thirteen competitors came from around the country from clubs such as Rutland, Chesil and Frensham Pond.

OOD Ken Elsey set a simple figure of eight course for the first two races in the morning which gave some competitive racing within the fleets. Unfortunately, Lindsey Burns sailed her Hansa 2.3 in the first race but then retired from the competition through ill health.

Then it was off the water for a delicious lunch before the next two races.

The OOD set a similar course and the competition was again just as great, in the light wind conditions with position changes through the two races. The results are listed below.

Our thanks go to Frampton's organisers for a great day in testing conditions.

Overall Results:

Liberty
1st Tessa Watkins
2nd Paul Phillips
3rd David Durston

Hansa 303 Single Handed
1st Mike Everett
2nd James Woosnaam
3rd Leslie Philips

Hansa 303 Double Handed
1st Natalia Hillman & Alan Hillman
2nd Andrew Criswick & Adrian Halson
3rd Stephen Kitson & Jane Night
