The 84 yachts and 537 sailors participating in the 23rd Rodos Cup are as from yesterday (Thursday 25 July) at the beautiful island of Symi.
The international sailing race organized by Offshore Yachting Club of Rhodes and the Region of South Aegean, continued with the third leg today.
The race began at Nisyros and finished at the gulf of St. Emilianos, on the West coast of the island.
On the 24th of July the sailors had the opportunity to rest on the island of Nisyros, to visit the volcano and wander around the picturesque villages of the island.
The awards of the second leg were given to the winners on the night of the same day.
At yesterday's Nisyros-Symi race, the yachts started outside the Marina of Pallon and headed west towards Symi.
The captains chose their own strategy, either heading north and close to the Turkish coasts, or south, taking advantage of the wind and local weather conditions.
The yachts finished early in the afternoon at Symi and moored at the port of Gialos.
They will remain there until the morning of Friday 26th July, the last racing day of Rodos Cup, for which the last leg Symi-Rodos is scheduled.
