Gosford Sailing Club will be hosting a yacht regatta reminiscing last century. We are calling on boat owners whose boats were built pre 1999 to come and join us on Broken Bay and Brisbane Water for a spectacular event which will be held from Friday 31st January through to Sunday 2nd February.
Based on feedback from various yacht owners, the Gosford Sailing Club has decided there is great demand for hosting a regatta for these wonderful yachts to come together on the water to compete in a dedicated event for them. The classes will include: JOG Class, Ton Yacht Class and Contemporary Class. It is anticipated there will be divisions created in each class. The feature of the regatta will be the Australian Quarter and Half-Ton cup Championship.
The JOG class includes yachts up to 26ft LOA Classic JOG boats will include Hood 23's, J24's, S80's, and Endeavour 24's. The Premier Division will include purpose-built JOG boats.
The Ton Yacht Class includes IOR Quarter-Ton and Half-Ton yachts, i.e. Boats which were built between 1965 and 1994. Further information about these boats can be found on the Ton Yacht Association website.
Contemporary Class will comprise of yachts up to 36ft with a hull series date of less than 1999.
This class should attract yachts such as Young 88's, Farr 1020's, Adams 10's and should provide great racing for these older racing contemporaries.
The Commodore of the Gosford Sailing Club, Paul Gulliksen, is delighted to announce the new format for this regatta. "The regatta will have an inclusive format which will provide competitive racing and off-water camaraderie which the club is well known for."
So - it is on for JOG and all. It will be twice the fun with half a ton!
