Largs Regatta Festival, sponsored by Largs based Saturn Sails, was blessed by glorious sunshine but unfortunately a lack of meaningful wind. Only two of the four planned races were completed in the keelboats and three shorter races on the dinghy race track.
In IRC class 1 leader over the two races was Jonathan Anderson's J122 El Gran Senor followed closely by the Swan 40, Sloop John T (I and G Thomson) with sponsor Greg Pitt on board. A consistent performance from the Egythene 24 Crystal Clear (C McGaughey) gave them a win in IRC 2.
In the Etchells one design class second sponsor Coastworks steered Excalibur into equal first with Dom Todd's Hammer of Ashton.
The only boat to finish in the CYCA Restricted Sail class was the classic Fife yacht Piccolo (M Maiden).
In the dinghy classes the good turn out of D Zeros dominated the results with Alistair McLaughlin taking top prize, with the RS200 sailed by Robbie Burns and Vicki Simpson leading the bravo fleet.
Once ashore the fleet was treated to live music, Moet & Chandon party and tasty street food.
The Sunday race is around the Cumbrae Islands, a long standing tradition of this Regatta.
