Hong Kong Race Week 2020: Entry is open!

The Hong Kong Sailing Federation in conjunction with co-organiser the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club are pleased to announce the the 7th edition of Hong Kong Race Week. HKRW 2020 will run 4-9 February 2020, with the Asian Sailing Federation confirming that the event will represent Leg 2 of the annual ASAF Youth Cup Series for 2019-2020.

Serving as a significant foundation regatta for promising Asian sailors to hone their skills, Hong Kong Race Week has positioned itself amongst the best racing in the world and is a 'not to be missed' event on the international youth dinghy scene.

10 classes will be hosted in 2020, with sailors racing on Hong Kong's renowned world-class racetracks located in Repulse Bay, Deepwater Bay, Stanley, Tai Tam and Beaufort Island - the race tracks of the 2017 Optimist Asian and Oceanian Championship and the 2018 29er World Championship.

Hong Kong Race Week Chairman, Peter Davies, expressed his delight in being able to welcome new competitors along with previous participants to compete in the 2020 edition of the event, saying "HKRW has grown from strength to strength and in this our 7th edition, which coincides with an Asian-held Olympics; we are aiming for our most competitive event yet."

With strong growth in sailors attending from regional Asia, Davies remarked that with the momentum generated by an Olympics being hosted in Asia, he anticipated the event to attract more than 260+ of the top youth sailors from around the Asia Pacific region and further afield.

'Competitors returning' from countries including Australia, Cambodia, China, Dubai, Fiji, Great Britain, Guam, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Qatar, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, UAE and the USA are expected for 2020.

Hong Kong Race Week 2020 invited classes include 29er, 2.4mR, 420, 470, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Optimist, Optimist Green, Laser Pico Green and RS Feva.
