Marietta High School wins Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Lake Hartwell Open

The Marietta High School duo of Carter Koza of Maretta, Georgia, and Paul Marks, of Cumming, Georgia, brought a five-bass limit to the scale Saturday weighing 13 pounds, 10 ounces to win the 2019 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Lake Hartwell Open.

A field of 95 teams competed in the no-entry fee tournament, which launched from Gum Branch Park in Hartwell, Georgia, and was hosted by the Hart County Chamber of Commerce. In FLW and The Bass Federation (TBF) High School Fishing competition, the top 10-percent of teams competing advance to the High School Fishing National Championship.

The top nine teams on Lake Hartwell that advanced to the 2020 High School Fishing National Championship were:

1st: Marietta High School, Marietta, Ga. - Carter Koza, Marietta, Ga., and Paul Marks, Cumming, Ga., five bass, 13-10
2nd: North Hall High School, Gainesville, Ga. - Brandon Martin, Lula, Ga., and Parker Guy, Ocilla, Ga., five bass, 13-3
3rd: Greenbrier High School, Evans, Ga. - Caleb Hudson and Tanner Hadden, both of Evans, Ga., five bass, 13-0
4th: CrossPointe Christian Academy, Williamson, Ga. - Addison Stahl, Griffin, Ga., and Bartley Ford, Manchester, Ga., five bass, 12-0
5th: Dos Gringos Fishing - Marshall Williams, Toccoa, Ga., and Tyler Campbell, Martin, Ga., five bass, 11-15
6th: Morgan County High School, Madison, Ga. - James Holloway, Andrews, S.C., and Ryan Thomas, Madison, Ga., five bass, 11-12
7th: North Augusta High School, North Augusta, S.C. - Dustin Williamson, Aiken, S.C., and Hunter Temples, Saluda, S.C., five bass, 11-5
8th: North Augusta High School, North Augusta, S.C. - Jemmy McDonald, Aiken, S.C., and Bryson Wilson, Jackson, S.C., five bass, 10-10
9th: Travelers Rest High School, Travelers Rest, S.C. - Cole Sanders, Travelers Rest, S.C., and Hunter Dill, Travelers Rest, S.C., five bass, 10-10

Rounding out the top 10 teams was:

10th: Woodruff High School, Woodruff, S.C. - Clay Taylor and Cole Taylor, both of Roebuck, S.C., five bass, 10-6

The 2019 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Open on Lake Hartwell was a two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12, open to any Student Angler Federation (SAF) affiliated high school club in the United States. The top 10 percent of each Challenge, Open, and state championship field will advance to the 2020 High School Fishing National Championship on the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship to the school of their choice.

In addition to the High School Fishing National Championship, all High School Fishing anglers nationwide automatically qualify for the world's largest open high school bass tournament, the 2020 High School Fishing World Finals, held in conjunction with the National Championship. At the 2019 World Finals more than $150,000 in scholarships and prizes were awarded.
